HM Government and Levelling Up logos

The UKSPF is part of the Government's levelling up agenda and enables local areas to focus on their own priorities to build pride in place, boost productivity and spread opportunities.

Following consultation with key partners and stakeholders, Worthing Borough Council submitted its UKSPF Investment Plan to the Government in September 2022.

The Investment Plan detailed the projects that Worthing will deliver to help tackle local priorities. The project themes and associated funding allocation are detailed below:

  • Cost of Living: £550K
  • Local Business Support: £150K
  • Sustainable 'community-led' Transport Solutions: £250K
  • Investment into Community Participation: £50K

The UKSPF grant will allow the Council to work with residents with greater support needs who are facing significant challenges through the impact of welfare reform and global cost of living challenges. Through expanding our multidisciplinary Proactive Programme that enables us to identify households with low financial resilience to explore ways of increasing household income, reduce household debt and also address issues such as depression, anxiety and loneliness we will help wherever possible before crisis point or a worsening in circumstances.

The grant will also facilitate work to improve place, climate, sustainable travel, local economy and building capacity within the community to develop a placed based approach.

We believe that through these projects we will be able to deliver critical interventions, outputs and outcomes that will benefit the community and place.
