How to make a taxi complaint
When making a complaint about a taxi related matter, a licensed or unlicensed driver, vehicle or operator, the following information will be required so that the matter can be investigated:
- your name, address, contact telephone number and email address
- the time, date and location of the incident(s)
- the details of the driver, vehicle or operator against which you are complaining and you regard as the source of the problem
- details concerning the type of incident or offence
Complaints are logged and allocated to an officer who may contact you for further information.
Depending on the complexity of the complaint this process may take many months. If the investigating officer is satisfied that an offence has been committed the licensing authority will take the most appropriate course of action and you will be advised of the results.
- Adur District Council is the licensing authority for Southwick, Shoreham and Lancing.
- Worthing Borough Council is the licensing authority for the borough of Worthing.
If formal action is taken by the licensing authority it may be necessary for evidence supporting the case to be given in the courts.
If the council takes formal action on your behalf you may be required to attend the court to give evidence supporting your complaint.
If after investigation, the officer is of the opinion that an offence does not exist you will be advised of this decision and the councils will take no further action.
