What the Councils buy

We spend approximately £29 million on goods, works and services every year. This expenditure can be broadly categorised as follows:

Construction

• Repair and planned maintenance of Council corporate buildings and multi -storey car parks, including fabric (roofing, glazing, redecoration etc.) and services (inspection and servicing of electrical systems, heating and plumbing, lift maintenance, fire and intruder alarms, drain clearance etc.)

• Adaptations to residential properties for people with disabilities
• Civil engineering works - public realm enhancements (pedestrian areas, new street furniture, footpath repairs, car park resurfacing etc.), playground refurbishments, landscaping, flood prevention, coastal protection
