About this park
Opened in 1991, this neighbourhood park is linked to the adjacent Site of Nature and Conservation interest. Amongst its facilities the park has a play area, kick-about area, and extensive tree planting.
New play equipment at Longcroft Park
The equipment has been set out along a path and will be fenced once completed to provide a safe space for children to play whilst parents and carers can sit and meet up in adjacent seating.
The equipment selected is specially chosen to stimulate and challenge children from toddler to around 8 years of age using climbing, balancing swinging and social play. Additional seating is provided along with litter bins.
Long climb multiplay
Designed to give stepped physical challenges, allowing confidence, skill and strength to grow.
With a difficult traverse, including a climbing wall, hand-over-hand and easier circulation via ladders/rope climbs, users are rewarded with a 1.5m high slide. A transitional unit that is good for older toddlers and juniors alike.
It has a challenging hand-over-hand section that acts as a filter between the easy slide and the trickier climbing wall, fireman's pole and a rope climb.
It provides increasingly difficult challenges to keep children coming back.
Suitable for children aged between 4 and 10 years.
Rotating beam
This beam mirrors walking along tree trunks or walls. Excellent for developing balance and coordination skills, just staying on is difficult.
Suitable for children aged between 6 and 14 years.
Toddler-zone hide and slide
Hide and slide toddler-zone inclusive multiplay system offering three levels of access to a 1.2m high slide, up a climb ramp, an inclined ladder with handrails or a ring climb.
There is a hidden social seating area under the main deck where little ones can sit, chat and hide.
At the highest point we have put look-out binoculars (educational panel).
Suitable for children aged between 2 and 6 years.
Edge along bridge
To help develop balance and the skill of judging distances.
Boat swing
Larger than an average cradle seat the boat seat gives support to those children with less mobility and co-ordination so that they can enjoy the sensation of swinging. It can be used like an old fashioned boat swing by two or more children when in the flat position or by one child when upright.
Scooter roundabout
A roundabout that will go as fast as children make it and so uses up a lot of energy without them realising.
Suitable for children aged between 4 and 10 years.
Stepping pods
The Inclusive Stepping Pods can be installed at various heights for children to hop from one to another.
Great for ages 2 to 8 years to develop balance and the skill of judging distances.
Inclusive springer
Arranged to allow children to 'spring' together these springies allow seating from the front, giving back and ankle support. With a moulded seat the user is held in place.
Designed with an open front, specially shaped to allow children to get on and off themselves by simply reversing and sitting down, no lifting necessary.
Moulded to offer full support and a double foot rail to accommodate different ages.
An exciting ride for all children from 2 to 8 years.
