Homefield Park playground consultation 2025
Homefield Park improvements
Improvements to the playground area of Homefield Park will be starting in 2025. This includes reshaping the area of the playground and replacing the play equipment. Worthing Borough Council is proposing to fund these improvements with a budget of £220,000.
Further improvements to the park in the future will include new planting and using a sustainable drainage system.
The playground
The first stage of the works is to the playground, which will be reshaped to help with surface water and flooding issues that occur on a regular basis. The playground will remain the same size but will stretch further into the park.
For stage two of the project we plan to transform the lower section, which is often subject to flooding, into a planted area with sustainable drainage to take advantage of the rainwater capture in this area as well as providing attractive planting and increased biodiversity.
Playground consultation
The consultation for Homefield Playground has now ended. Thank you for voting for your chosen design. We received just over 700 responses, with 113 of those face-to-face with council officers at the park itself.
What is happening now?
We now begin the procurement process for the chosen design.
What is happening next?
Our legal team organises the contract and then the play company will build the majority of the equipment off-site. The construction on-site is planned for the summer.
