Adur & Worthing Councils are the data controllers (referred to in this notice as 'we' or 'us') of your personal data for the purposes of applicable data protection legislation in relation to the administration and management of the following:

Why we need your personal data:

The purpose of processing your personal data is to facilitate public participation and engagement activities, across Adur and Worthing.
The legal basis for processing your data is:

  • GDPR Article 6(1)(b) is necessary in the performance of a contract or the intention to enter into a contract.
  • Article 6(1)(c) processing is necessary for the compliance of a legal obligation to which the controller is subject.
  • Article 6(1)(e) processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

What we collect and how it is used:

For participation and engagement activities, we may collect your name, email address and contact details for the purpose of activity organising and activity feedback, in particular contacting you about future participation and engagement opportunities for which you have provided a response and only where you have provided these details voluntarily.

We will not share personal data with departments within the councils or with external organisations.

How long the information is kept for:

Records are kept in accordance with the Council's disposal schedule and we will not keep your information for longer than necessary.

Your rights:

You have certain rights under UK Data Protection law including:

  • The right to be informed
  • The right of access to your personal data
  • The right of rectification (to have any inaccuracies corrected)
  • The right of erasure (to have your records deleted)
  • The right to restrict processing
  • The right to data portability
